Surrounded by a mangrove forest whose colors are reflected in its clear water, Las Ninfas Lagoon is probably one of the most beautiful places to watch the sunset on Santa Cruz Island. This peaceful lagoon has a short boardwalk around the trees, where you can relax and enjoy birdwatching. If you are lucky, you can even spot sea lions, sea turtles or shark pups.

Tips&Tricks: According to locals, Las Ninfas Lagoon is a mysterious place, protected by the nymphs (magical creatures that can be seen only when the darkness sets).

Along the boardwalk there are wooden signs that explaines interesting facts about the wildlife that call the lagoon home and the fours types of Galapagos mangroves.

Tips&Tricks: The lagoon can be visited daily between 9:00 AM – 5:00PM.

What to pack for a day at Las Ninfas Lagoon

The lagoon is a 5 minutes walk from the main (and only) supermarket in Puerto Ayora. You can easily pack everything you need for the perfect picnic on the wooden boardwalk – and don’t forget your SPF sunscreen (necessary throughout the day, even if it’s rainy or cloudy). Depending on how long you stay on the island, you can spend an entire afternoon here.
